A Day at the Texas State Fair...

We had a blast! Violet was awesome. She just hung out and looked around while mommy and dadda ate their way through the park. We had Fletcher's corn dogs, a deep fried smore's pop tart, fried oreos and a belgian waffle topped with whipped cream, strawberries and powdered sugar. I didn't eat as much as I had planned. It was a fabulous way to spend the day!

Dadda and Uncle Aus waiting in line for corn dogs (our first stop).

Watching the dog show - 5 Fabulous Dobermans

We had to get a picture with Big Tex!

Rahrrrr!
Our last stop. We couldn't resist.

4 Month Appointment

My growing girl! We moved Violet out of the co-sleeper last week into the pack 'n play, still in our bedroom. No more "family bed." That makes me so sad! But, I know it's the right thing to do. Violet is sleeping through the night. She goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 and wakes up to eat around 2:30. She goes right back to sleep until 6:30. She naps in her crib 3-4 times a day. She's hardly ever fussy. She is the best baby!

The doctor says we should start rice cereal at 5 1/2 months. Violet did get the same immunizations as last time. Thankfully, Adam was with us at the appointment. I had another meltdown. Vi cried a lot longer this time. Breaks my heart!

Everyday you say??

My Aunt Rita and my sister have each reminded me that the title of this blog is "Everyday with Violet Mae." They want to see something everyday! That's because they LOVE LOVE LOVE her!

Dear Aunt Rita and Stephanie,
I promise I will post something at least twice a week. Even if it's just photos. I am looking forward to documenting all of her fabulous fall outfits! :) Here are two photos from this week.
Love,
B

Adorable!

I definitely need more practice with my camera!

High chair!!

I decided to assemble the high chair this week. Don't worry, we aren't rushing into anything. We thought it would be great to have Violet up high while I'm in the kitchen or while we are eating.

We're trying it out. She looks so tiny!

It was a good thing we put the high chair together because we had a little visitor. Owen took the maiden voyage! Aunt B didn't do too bad - he had some banana and a grilled cheese sammy.

Violet's Toys!

Oh, there are soooo many! We were already busting at the seams in our quaint little house. It is so much fun to watch her discover all the textures, colors and sounds.

Tummy Time!

Poor Baxter...

She loves her exersaucer! She's starting to move herself around.

Who's laughing now?

Check this girl out! I had to yell at Adam to first find the video camera then hurry and film her. The happy sounds that come from this little girl make my heart smile! Laughing babies make the world a better place.

Labor Day was a Picnic in the Park!

What a perfect day for a family outing! Sunday afternoon we met some friends in the greenspace at Northpark Center for a Labor Day concert featuring the Dallas Symphony and a picnic in the park. It was Violet's first outdoor adventure. The weather was perfect! We shared great food and drink with some of our besties.

"Hi mama. Listening and dancing to music is awesome!"

Mark, Owen, Emmaline and Sarah (Vince was there too)

Love this pic of Emmaline! She loves music!

First time Mark held Violet! First time he held a baby at all! He thinks it's a piece of cake.

Celebration of Life

This past week was very hard. We woke up early Monday morning to the horrible news that one of Adam's cousins had past away.
We dropped everything to be with Adam's aunt, uncle, cousin Ben and his girlfriend, Stacy. As soon as we walked in the door, Violet was surrounded. She was like a beam of light entering the room. Violet was smiling and cooing and she put a smile on everyone's face. They were all holding her and hugging her. It was amazing to see.
Lots of family and friends flew in from all over the country to show their love and support. It was wonderful to see everyone but an unfortunate and tragic event that brought us all together.

He was a sweet young guy with a promising future. He has a loving family and many, many friends. Alex Gaar will be greatly missed.

Watching a video of happy times with Alex's Grandma.

Cela flew with hubby, Jeff, and new baby Zuzu from Los Angeles.

Gramps loved holding the new babies.

Violet was worn out! She napped while Uncle Austin and I shared stories about Alex.

Shortly after Violet was born, we had a small party with family where Alex met Violet. He was so interested in her. He would make faces at her and touch her little feet. He was so curious about our little one.

A Little Road Trip

Adam dropped me and Violet off at Alicia's on his way to work in San Antonio last week. We had so much fun! The last time we saw Alicia was when baby Case was born in mid-July. Case is now 7 weeks old! Time flies! Alicia and I were in for a much needed shopping trip. We ventured out to eat lunch and made a stop at the outlet mall in Round Rock. The babies were so good! We were able to be out for about 4 hours. It was definitely an adventure with all of our stuff. Violet and Case were pretty much on the same eating and sleeping schedule so Alicia and I were able to get in some "adults only" time. No, we weren't drinking (although it wasn't a bad idea)! We were talking about make-up and shopping, great deals online, fun websites... blah, blah, blah. Who knew we would be so lucky to be blessed with kiddos the same year? It's going to be so fun to watch them grow-up together.

The kiddos fed and well-rested. Ready for shopping!

Bumbo!

So we broke out the Bumbo this week! Violet has mixed feelings about it. Sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't. It's funny because we have to put her in just right or else her chubby little legs won't fit. She really likes to watch Sesame Street in it. Can't believe she is 3 months old!

Just chillin'.

Everyone asks how Baxter feels about Violet. Here is photographic evidence that they are pretty uninterested in each other. Poor Baxter.

12 Weeks

Violet is really starting to vocalize and become more interactive. She is checking out her surroundings and reacting with faces and sounds. I can't believe how with everyday there is something new.
Here she is during "tummy time." I love, love, love to hear her make these sounds.
She's adorable!

2 Month Check-up

Two weeks ago I took Violet to her 2 month check-up... alone. Unfortunately, Adam had to work that day. Neither of our appointments could be rescheduled. I went in knowing that it was going to be difficult because Vi was going to get her first set of 4 immunizations. I didn't think too much of it; I knew it had to be done. The shots were brutal. Mostly for me... she stopped screaming bloody murder in less than a minute. Then a wave of anxiety and confusion set over me. Adam had repeatedly talked about how he thought immunizations could cause autism. I had just brushed him off. I knew she had to have the shots for school and travel, etc. I left the doctor's office wondering if he was right. I frantically called him, crying and asking if we had done the right thing. He didn't know that he had freaked me out so much. He quickly assured me that everything he had told me had been debunked. He said it wasn't true and Violet would be fine. I was doing the right thing for our little girl. We have to continue with the immunizations at 4 months, 6 months and I'm sure into her toddler years. I am not looking forward to them and will always wonder.

I do always look forward to getting her "stats".
